Andretti Autosport will have a four-car lineup this season with EJ Viso joining the IndyCar team.
Viso's addition, announced Thursday, is a joint effort between Andretti and HVM Racing. The partnership allows HVM Racing to continue its participation in IndyCar in a business role while anticipating a potential return to competition in 2014.
The Keith Wiggins-owned HVM team was not planning on racing in IndyCar this season, but holds one of the coveted series-subsidizing Leader's Circle bonuses.
"We are happy to welcome E.J. to the team and to again be running four cars," said team owner Michael Andretti. "He has shown speed in his early years as a driver which we view as very promising, and his personality will lend well to the overall chemistry of the drivers and crew. I'd like to thank Keith and HVM for their assistance in this project."
Viso joins a lineup that includes defending IndyCar champion Ryan Hunter-Reay, and James Hinchcliffe and Mario Andretti. Viso will drive the No. 5 Team Venezuela PDVSA Chevrolet, bringing the Team Venezuela sponsorship with him that he's used throughout his career.
He is Team Venezuela's premiere racer, and the only Latino-born driver currently racing full-time in the IndyCar series.
"I have been following E.J.'s career for quite some time and was able to help him get his start in racing 22 years ago," said Team Venezuela founder Vicente Tralci. "It's an honor to be able to bring this opportunity to him and to pair with Andretti Autosport. It has always been our dream to be partnered with a team of such high reputation or results."
Viso, a native of Caracas, Venezuela, is entering his sixth season in IndyCar. He drove for KV Racing Technologies last season, and has 16 career top-10 finishes.
"I could not ask for more than to get the opportunity to drive for a championship team while representing my country," Viso said. "After five years in the series I believe I have found the right environment and look forward to having Ryan, James and Marco as teammates. I'm very proud to be able to move into the 2013 season with this new relationship; it's a dream come true."
Andretti Autosport went from four cars to three following the 2011 season, and the addition of Viso makes it the largest organization in IndyCar. Andretti plans to field five cars in the Indianapolis 500, two full-time Firestone Indy Lights entries, two full-time Pro Mazda Championship entries and entries in the USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda.
Andretti Autosport is the only team that fields cars at each level of the Mazda Road to Indy ladder.

We've talked to the CBC Canada Reads authors, and now we will hear from their champions ? the panellists who will debate until one book emerges victorious.
Panellist Charlotte Gray knows a thing or two about books ? she's an acclaimed author herself, with eight award-winning titles of literary non-fiction under her belt. She will defend Jane Urquhart's Away (McClelland & Stewart) during the competition.
Charlotte tells us about what makes Away such a wonderful read, the literary character of Ontario and a possible celebratory s?ance.
Hosted by popular CBC personality and author Jian Ghomeshi, Canada Reads pits five fantastic Canadian books against one another in a (mostly) friendly competition, with each book championed by a Canadian celebrity in a series of broadcast debates. For more information about CBC Canada Reads, please visit their website. The 2013 debates run from February 11-14.
Stay tuned to Open Book: Toronto for interviews with more of the Canada Reads panellists this week!
Tell us three things that make your selected book the best on the list.
Jane Urquhart?s Away is an important book because it takes one of the great narratives of Canadian experience ? a multigenerational saga rooted in another country ? and lifts it off the page with imagination and wit. So Away?s first great strength is that it speaks to the experience of so many Canadians in a way that sparks our own imaginations.
Its second strength is that it is beautifully written. Sentences and images linger in the mind: Mary, Brian, Liam and Eileen are beguiling characters who are, at the same time, engagingly realistic and almost mythical. Who can resist a cow called Moon and a speaking crow who finds gold?
Finally, there is mystery. This is not the exquisite but motionless product of too many Creative Writing Courses, nor is it a novel written with an eye to a screenplay (those slim volumes are all dialogue, no physical description ? so that Angelina can decide for herself what she wants to look like.) Away is set in both the present, with a little girl asking questions, and the past, as the Irish immigrant family arrives in the New World in the mid-nineteenth century. The action sweeps you along. Only in the final pages do we learn the answers to those questions.
No wonder Away spent longer on the Globe and Mail best-sellers list than any other book so far.
What makes you particularly qualified to defend this title?
I?m not sure that I am particularly qualified to defend this title. My main justification would be that I love Away, and that it reflects my particular interest ? how history has shaped the Canada we know today.
For Canada Reads, Away is the Ontario book and I represent Ontario among the five advocates. I?m happy to do that as I have lived in Ontario ever since I came to Canada, and I know the landscape that Jane describes in Away. Moreover, in my own non-fiction books, such as Sisters in the Wilderness, I?ve written about people in similar circumstances as the O?Malleys. I know about the chilling cold of the first winter in the woods, the flickering light from oil lamps, the sinister glitter of Lake Ontario. But Jane gave me fresh insights into what it must have been like. Any immigrant, from any country, would recognize the painful mix of nostalgia and liberation that expatriates share.
Where were you the first time you read your selected book?
I wish I could remember! Away was published almost 20 years ago, when I had three young sons at home and was scrambling to balance family life and my own writing career. Novels were then (and are still) my relaxation and escape. I probably read Away at night, in bed, during the precious hours when nobody was fighting over Lego.
How would you describe the literary culture of the region you're defending?
Diverse! With a population of 13 million, Ontario has so much talent and so many traditions and communities to draw on. How can I find one word that captures the books of Alice Munro, Joseph Boyden and Dionne Brand? There is frontier realism in the north, and urban angst from Toronto. Ontario bookshelves are packed with fiction deeply rooted in the Canadian Shield, and with novels haunted by the insecurity of new arrivals. So many books? and so little time to read!
If your writer wins the competition, how will you celebrate?
I?d order champagne for all the advocates and authors, and hope that the ghost of Hugh MacLennan would join us to toast Jane Urquhart!
Charlotte Gray one of Canada?s pre-eminent biographers, has won many awards for her writing, including the 2002 UBC Medal for Canadian Biography, the Edna Staebler Award for Creative Non-Fiction and the CAA Birks Family Foundation Award for Biography. She has received the prestigious Pierre Berton Award for a body of historical writing. She is the Chair of the National History Society. Visit her at http://www.charlottegray.ca.

There is a growing movement to treat animals with the best that human medicine has to offer, including physical therapy, hydro-therapy, and even alternative therapies -- acupuncture, to be precise.
When dog owner Joe Bowerman's beloved Shitzu, Snoot, was suffering from chronic back problems, which is common among the breed, and became paralyzed, Bowerman started looking into acupuncture treatments.
"He couldn't use his back," said Snoot's vet Leilani Alvarez of Animal Medical Center in New York City. "Acupuncture works primarily with the central nervous system, so there really isn't an equivalent conventional medicine."
Watch the full story on "Nightline" tonight at 12:35 a.m. ET
Three million people in the United states use the ancient Chinese therapy for debilitating pain, to help them quit smoking, and more. But at Animal General Hospital, also in New York City, veterinarians are using it extensively for cases like Snoot's.
There, three acupuncture treatments a week cost a $100 a visit.
'Gator Boys': Alligator Trapping Behind the Scenes Watch Video"You make sacrifices for the things you care about, things that you love," Joe said. "We all do it in a different way. This guy has given me great companionship, and I didn't want to lose him so I made those sacrifices for him."
Delilah's owner Mark Rindler swears that acupuncture made all the difference for the dachshund.
"She has a bad back, a back neck ... and acupuncture saved her life," he said. "We almost had to put her down last August she was in such bad shape. Medicine didn't help."
While animals can't verbalize whether the treatment works or not, their owners said they could see a difference.
"I know it was acupuncture because the other stuff didn't work," Rindler said. "After these treatments, she was like a little puppy again."
But there is a lot of skepticism too. Some veterinarians say there is no science to prove that sticking dogs with tiny needles is good medicine. David Ramey helped shape the guidelines for alternative therapies for animal treatment plans for the American Veterinary Medical Association and said the root of the issue is "there is no consensus" on if acupuncture has any effect on the animal's health.
"You will find some studies that show there is an effect, and you will find that there are studies that show there is no effect whatsoever," Ramey said. "Another half-truth is that there is no such thing as an acupuncture point. Nobody has ever been able to demonstrate that there is such a thing anatomically."
But even critics can agree that the best medicine for pets is a lot of TLC, which doesn't cost anything and yet, is still priceless.
"I think they should spend time with their animals and take them on walks and massage them and pay attention to them," Ramey said.

I don?t think many gamers grasp the importance and honour it is to represent South Africa in eSports. It?s exactly the same as being selected as the National cricket or rugby team.
I?ve really struggled to find any information about it and had lots of questions as I?m sure many gamers do. The truth is that we just don?t really know anything about it and because we don?t, we can only make assumptions, many of which are wrong. I?ve come to learn that being that National Team or receiving National Colours for eSports is a hell of a lot more than people realise. I forwarded some of my questions to the president of the MSSA, Colin Webster. I?m hoping this can help gamers understand a little bit more about it.?
What?s the difference between officially representing South Africa in eSports and just naming your team the National Team?
When you officially represent South Africa in eSports, you get either National Federation Colours or Protea Colours. When you just name your team as a national team and you have not been properly selected, the media, public at large, etc. do not care what your achievements are. A properly selected team will have their results archived, and the results, if good enough can be used for other awards at government level. Unfortunately, results obtained by an unofficial team are never included in such events. The Colours that an official team has been awarded are almost as good as currency. When players are awarded National or Protea Colours, such gamers are also able to apply for sports bursaries.
What rules or code of conduct does the National Team have to follow?
The Code of Conduct that a team has to follow is an amalgamation of what the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) and the National Federation expects. Obviously the player representing South Africa has to hold him/herself to a higher standard as people tend to judge all South Africans by the few that they actually meet. The Code of Conduct is not onerous, but largely common-sense. In short, it is how you would expect someone to behave if they were representing you!
Are there any legal implications for any rules broken when selected as the National Team?
All members who are selected to, and join, a national team are given a contract to sign. If the gamer has not yet reached the age of majority, the legal guardian signs the contract. Essentially, if the rules are broken, there may be a financial implication as well as a disciplinary implication. Depending on the severity of the breach, action may be taken by the International Federation concerned, SASCOC, or by the National Federation. As we have seen over recent years, even the Minister of Sport may become involved should the Minister feel that the situation requires his input.
Are there any legal implications when a team not affiliated with the MSSA, name themselves the National Team or even Team South Africa?
Certainly there are legal implications. Many South Africans seem oblivious to the fact that the government is the owner of the name and all insignia relating to South Africa. National Federations through their status and accreditation are entitled to use such name and certain logos for national teams. While the government might turn a blind eye to the use of the flag, etc. during moments of national fervour ( 2010 world Cup and Afcon 2012), the government jealously guards the way in which the symbols of South Africa are used. Thus an unofficial team trying to pass itself off as a representative team may find itself having to justify it?s actions to the government. Even National Federations that use the national symbols without proper approval face the ire and wrath of the government.
When a team is selected by the MSSA as the National Team, what does the MSSA do for them?
The MSSA?s eSports teams probably get the lion?s share due to eSports being more marketable than the other disciplines. Most of the MSSA?s eSports teams are given all of their kit free, the teams that travel also have all their accommodation and travelling costs paid on their behalf. Thus, every MSSA team that has attended the WCG and IeSF events since 2005 has only had to worry about their own spending money. The same remains true for the team that the MSSA sent to Namibia. Unfortunately, the MSSA is not a rich body, so the MSSA has to budget carefully, and often has to just ?make-do? with what is available. Of course, the greater the membership, the more that can be achieved!
What?s the difference between the MSSA and a government body running eSports?
All sport in South Africa is run according to the Sport and Recreation Act of 1998 (as amended). According to the Act, the bodies that are recognised by the government and by the Department are the sole authority for the sports under their control.
However this is a good thing!
All sports are run according to their own Constitutions which are decided upon by their members.
Thus it is the very people who have the biggest interest in the sport who have the say in what happens. It is the members that decide what happens, it is the members that elect the officials and it is the members that provide the vision for years to come.
Also, because of the legal nature of the federations, no one owns a federation. Thus federations are free of the ownership issues that haunt the privately owned companies.
Gamers claim that there is too much ?politics? involved with affiliating with the MSSA, is this true? What kind of politics is involved?
All of life is of a political nature! As soon as you negotiate the purchase of a bus ticket you have entered into the political life of the country. Thus it is true that there is politics inherent in the system. But the politics that are there are for the betterment of the game and its players. Because of the politics, members can negotiate from time-to-time the introduction of new titles, the attendance of the team at different events and so forth and so on. Without politics, you would have an overbearing despot ordering things to happen without the option of negotiation.
Thus the nature of the politics in the MSSA is getting agreements between the interested parties. The only people who are dissatisfied with how the meetings are run are those who want everything done their way and those who cannot see the other person;s point of view. All decisions are made through voting, and it is the majority opinion that holds sway!
What?s the difference between officially representing our country in eSports and representing our country in any other sport, for example Rugby?
There is no difference between officially representing South Africa in eSports to any other sport. eSports are now an officially accredited sport, and the Protea Colours that are awarded are awarded by the same Protea Colours Board that awards Protea Colours for all other sports.
What restrictions are there for the National team?
The criteria for choosing a team which will only be awarded National Federation Colours are less, and not as stringent, as those for a National Team that is awarded Protea Colours. A team without Protea Colours for example does not have to comply with the passport requirement. No player can be awarded the Protea emblem if he/she does not have a South African passport, although support staff do not need to meet such a requirement.
Is the national team allowed to enter private tournaments for example the Do Gaming League or MyGaming Dota 2 SECS?
The MSSA allows all of its National Team Members to enter any competition that they want to. However, the National team Member must, and can, only represent a clan that is currently affiliated to the MSSA. Thus, for example, Joe Bloggs is a member of the National Team, he is affiliated to Clan A which is a member of the MSSA, that means he cannot play for any clan that is not affiliated to the MSSA. Should a clan that is not a member of the MSSA indulge in ambush marketing by claiming that he is a member, the MSSA will expect the player to publicly renounce any such claim.
When a team is selected to be the National Team, is the team allowed to belong to an existing clan?
A player will only be selected to represent South Africa if he is a member of a club affiliated to the MSSA, so that is really not an issue!
Gamers use the excuse of past mistakes to not affiliate with the MSSA, why should they do so now?
It is a sad world if you are always going to be judged on your past! There comes a time in everybody?s life when they have to re-evaluate what they believe. Certainly the MSSA made some mistakes in the past, but a lot of what it did was right. If a gamer is of the belief that they can do better, good, welcome aboard?..
Everybody who feels that they have something that they want to put back into eSports should join. If you want the accreditation for being a great player, you should join.
Those who join will have the wonderful adventure of being part of something that will leave a legacy for others, you should join.
There are just so many reasons why a person should join?.
Knowing that eSports is an officially accredited sport makes me realize that we should start treating it that way, meaning that we shouldn?t always start kicking and screaming at the mention of the word government. At the moment we still have a say, we are able to shape the sport as we see best and we really should do so. If every one just brushes it off, it might happen in the future that our freedom to help steer the sport in the right direction maybe taken away.
We wanted eSports to be as important and big as other sports in the country for a long time, not knowing that it already was. The only reason it?s not taking off or hasn?t done so in the past already as we would like it to, is because we as gamers have been too stubborn to get in there and make things happen.

In an exclusive interview with Yahoo News, the Kentucky Republican said any legislation pushed by the Senate ?Gang of Eight? must include such a provision.
?We need a good guest worker program. The one we have now is not working very well,? McConnell told Chief Washington Correspondent Olivier Knox, noting it was difficult for farmers to harvest crops without such low-wage assistance. "So there?s a practical reality to needing a guest worker program, and I?m sure that will be a part of the final bill.?
McConnell?s comments are significant given that a guest worker program, which would allow an employer to sponsor a non-U.S. citizen as an employee for labor purposes, has been opposed by labor unions and others who see it as a threat to low wage U.S. workers.
McConnell did not endorse any of the principles the bipartisan Senate group has outlined, including an eventual path to citizenship for millions currently living illegally in the U.S. He emphasized instead that the group is moving Congress in a "direction" toward reform.
"I think there?s a bipartisan desire to do something important here, a feeling that our immigration system is broken ? it certainly is," McConnell said.
McConnell spoke to Knox about a range of subjects in the 20-minute interview, from President Barack Obama's State of the Union address to what he thinks of Vice President Joe Biden to a potential political challenge from Ashley Judd to how the Kentucky senator likes his bourbon.
McConnell said he is skeptical about whether to pass new gun restrictions in the wake of the school shootings in Newtown, Conn., and elsewhere.
Calling himself ?a strong Second Amendment supporter,? McConnell cast doubt on the government's ability to help prevent gun violence by enacting gun reform.
"These school shootings are just horrendous. It absolutely shocks and appalls everybody in the country," McConnell said. "The question is: What can the government do about insane people doing horrendous things? It's a very complex question."
McConnell declined to say whether he supports expanded background checks for prospective gun buyers -- something Obama has championed.
The president has made gun safety restrictions a signature issue for his second term following the Newtown shooting. The president chose Biden to head up the task force to help craft legislative proposals to stem gun violence and gather input from a range of special interest groups, the public, advocates and others.
Biden, a 36-year veteran of the Senate from Delaware, has been a key negotiator for the president on Capitol Hill.
McConnell notably helped reach a New Year's Eve deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff by reaching out to Biden.
"What is it that former Senator Biden brings to the table in a negotiation like this that the president himself doesn't?" Knox asked.
McConnell joked that Biden wasn't "freelancing," suggesting Obama was well aware of what the vice president was doing in the negotiations with McConnell.
McConnell suggested Obama had recently missed a major opportunity to unite lawmakers behind his agenda.
"I was disappointed in the inaugural speech, which was very much on the far left," McConnell said. "I hope that the president will use the State of the Union to move back to the political center so we can do some important things for the American people."
Knox told McConnell that many Yahoo readers had said on Facebook and Twitter that they were interested in McConnell's reaction to a widely reported comment he made in 2010, when he said his No. 1 goal was to make Obama a "one-term president."
McConnell said he made those comments before the 2012 race, ?as any active Republican would," but that he was willing to work with Obama now that he has been re-elected to a second term.
McConnell claimed Wednesday that the president's plan to use the government to help boost the economy was a failure and that the economy has been "tepid for four straight years."
"Most of what he's done hasn't worked," McConnell said.
That claim conflicts with data showing that under Obama the economy has added jobs and corporate profits have grown, and with other positive factors that show an economy in a slow but gradual recovery despite a slight contraction in the gross domestic product in the fourth quarter of 2012.
McConnell acknowledged he may face a tough primary challenge in 2014, in part because he has been at odds with tea party members in his state and because those in Senate leadership roles in both parties are juicy targets for defeat.
Could that mean a Sen. Ashley Judd, who is considering running for the Democratic nomination in Kentucky?
"Who I actually end up running against either in the primary or the general will be determined in 2014 and we'll take a look at it then," McConnell said.
One thing McConnell was eager to discuss: bourbon, the drink his home state is known for.
"The best way to drink it, in my opinion, is to make a Manhattan, which is a combination of bourbon and other unknown substances,? McConnell said. ?Drop a couple of cherries on top of it, make sure there's ice there, and it's a terrific drink around Christmastime, which I frequently offer to my guests."
