'Alcatraz': Dr. Banerjee Pushes Inmate To Recall Memory That Drove Him To Murder (VIDEO)

In a flashback to 1960, Dr. Banerjee tried to connect with mass murderer Johnny McKee regarding the incident that triggered his sociopathic behavior on "Alcatraz" (Mon., 9 p.m. EST on Fox). Once she pushed him to admit to and talk about the incident when he was younger and got humiliated by a girl and her jock friends, she said she'd be able to help him. He burned the girl's face with acid, keeping a picture of her as a reminder. And he killed bullies indiscriminately after that. But Dr. Banerjee told him she could help him forget.

In the present, McKee was back on the loose and killing again. Clearly, Banerjee's work hadn't succeeded, or whatever agent is returning the '63s restored his urge to punish those who bully others. In every scene where McKee kills, he is seen being bullied or pushed around first. Granted, murder is perhaps a little over the top for the infractions -- not to mention the collateral damage of other people nearby he also murders -- but it gives the notion that he's working within his own sense of justice.

For the first time, another inmate was brought in to help in the capture, as Madsen was allowed to question Jack Sylvane, the first recaptured '63. Sylvane's cell was next to McKee's so he was able to provide some insight into the character and motivations of the chemistry killer that proved invaluable. Plus, he reaffirmed that the returnees have no idea how they came back. And dropped the cryptic hint that he no longer dreams -- a byproduct of Banerjee's memory-erasing?

Watch the mystery slowly unravel as "Alcatraz" continues Mondays at 9 p.m. EST on Fox.
