PARIS. The percentage of malignant changes of leg ulcers are estimated dermatologists from the University of Paris, in a study with 10.4 percent.
The French scientists were recruited for the study, 144 patients with 154 chronic leg ulcers (Arch Dermatol 2012; online 20 February).

Two basal cell carcinoma and melanoma had developed less than five years, among them the likelihood was great that she had been misdiagnosed as leg ulcers.
The six remaining tumors did not make clear whether malignant transformation had taken place of an ulcer, for example in terms of a Marjolin?s ulcer, or whether it is an ulcerated cancer acting, which had been incorrectly classified as Leg Ulcers.
Abnormally excessive formation of granulation tissue was one of the clues that were significantly associated with skin cancer often diagnosed in Leg Ulcers.
The high rate of malignancy in leg ulcers, which was recorded in the present study, although possibly due to the selection of particularly serious cases, as is typical for an institution of tertiary care.
However, dermatologists advise the French to consider seriously whether or not to biopsy all had wounds on the legs, not after three months of therapy to heal.
